Information for Health Care Providers

Patients often have trouble finding the information they need to make the right choices for themselves and for their families. Information about medical research studies isn’t hidden, but it isn’t always presented in terms that patients understand. What are the inclusion criteria for clinical trials? What are the potential risks? If everything goes well, what positive outcomes can patients reasonably expect?

As a healthcare provider, you can help your patients navigate the clinical trial space and find the best options for their unique situation.

Even patients ready to participate can have trouble finding a clinical trial near them—and figuring out if they qualify to take part.

You can help.

Whether you direct patients to resources that help them learn more about their conditions, clarify the benefits of clinical trials, or directly find medical research trials for them, they look to you for advice.

CAN YOUR PATIENTS BENEFIT FROM READING ABOUT COMPLETED ABBVIE CLINICAL TRIALS?

Sharing examples of past clinical trials with your patients can give them valuable insights into the clinical trial journey. That's why AbbVie is now making summaries of completed trials available in a dedicated online library for the general public.

These completed trial results — you may also see them being called plain language summaries or lay person summaries — are brief descriptions of the clinical trial results in everyday language that is more understandable to patients. The summaries include descriptions of what was studied and general outcomes, and we also believe the content will illustrate the valuable role participants played in the past trials and what their journeys included.
